WP Profit Builder Review (Video Review)

Welcome to my Profit Builder Review.

I purchased Profit Builder because I was drawn in by some of the awesome looking features, and was wondering if this could be a low cost alternative to OptimizePress 2.0.

For those of you who don’t know, WP Profit Builder is a plugin and/or theme for WordPress.

If you have a WordPress blog for example, you can use the plugin to create sales pages, squeeze pages, webinar pages and a whole big bunch of other pages without changing your blog theme. Click the button below to see some of the key features:

Go To The Sales Page >>>>

Before I get into the review, I want to offer you a bonus. Anybody purchasing through my link will receive my Monster Marketing Graphics pack that I sell on this blog for $17 – which you can see here.

This pack goes hand in hand with Profit Builder because you can use the graphics to really enhance the pages you are building with fancy headline graphics and all the rest. Again, buy through my link, and you get this FREE. When you have purchased through my link, drop me an email using the contact page here, and I’ll send it right on over to you.

The review of Profit Builder theme and plugin is a totally impartial review. My main goal here is to allow you to determine whether or not WP Profit Builder is suitable for your business needs – and most importantly – your budget.

Here’s your full Profit Builder Review.

In this video, I look at the members area available to you after you have purchased the product, and then jump across to my WP dashboard and show you the global settings – as well as the templates that are already included with your purchase.

Comment: A fairly standard members area with some basic training. I especially like how the templates are set out – one click in your WP dash, and the template is there for you to use on any page you want.

In this video, I install some templates, create a page, and have a play with the different options available in Profit Builder.

Comment: As I say in the video, Profit Builder is very very similar to OptimizePress 2.0. Which is no bad thing at all. I especially like how your input on the Live Editor shows up immediately in the live preview frame.

Click Here To See Profit Builder >>>>

In this video, I take a quick look at adding a new row including the correct row settings, as well as going through the four groups of shortcodes that is available to you when building out a page.

Comment: The array of different features and options is terrific. I especially like elements such as the countdown timers, parallax scrolling and the ability to drop an opt in form anywhere on the page.

Click Here To See Profit Builder >>>>

In this video, I load up all 57 of the included templates, so you can see them in all of their glory. After all, this is what we are really here for – letting someone else do most of the heavy lifting for us.

Comment: Amazing value for money – with something here for every type of marketer. And even if you don’t need something now, I can guarantee that sometime in the future you will need it.

Profit builder is both.

If you already have a WordPress site, then you can use Profit Builder as a plugin. You create pages by using the Pages option instead of the Posts option in your WordPress dashboard.

If you don’t already have a theme, you can use Profit Builder as a full on theme. Great if all you are doing is creating a site with a single purpose (such as a sales page, membership site etc).

Once you purchase Profit Builder, you will be then guided through a series of One Time Offers.

There are 3 additional products to choose from, including Launch Pad and a selection of software and plugins on offer.

It’s worth noting that you do not need any of them to get up and running with Profit Builder.

It’s also worth noting that you can upgrade and get any of these offers from your members dashboard, so they are not OTO’s, strictly speaking.

This is something only you can answer.

If you have previously toyed with the idea of OptimizePress, but didn’t go ahead for whatever reason, then this could be the perfect solution for you and your business.

And if you will be building any of the pages listed below, either now or in the future, then in my eyes it is worth this one time investment.

wp profit builder review

The Profit Builder Review above is an extremely thorough one, but as I did with the extensive OptimizePress 2.0 Review, I will accept video requests. Let me know if you want to see something specific. If you want to know, chances are others will as well.

Overall, Profit Builder is a very good piece of software, delivered at a more than reasonable price.

If you have a WordPress website online, and want the ability to create awesome looking pages at the drop of a hat, then the bottom line is this:

You need this software.

However, I can’t help but think this is very similar to OptimizePress.

The resemblance and similarities between Profit Builder and OptimizePress 2.0 are uncanny.

So uncanny in fact, that if I was to place a bet, my bet would be that Sean Donahoe and team paid James Dyson and his OptimizePress team a huge amount of money to purchase the framework that already exists in OptimizePress 2.0.

If you need any convincing, just check out my video review of OptimizePress and take a look at the similarities.

But the fact that it’s similar to OP is by no means a bad thing at all.

Both products are very well thought out, very well executed tools that we can all use to build our all important marketing pages and sites.

Of course, as this is new software, there are many minor bugs still present.

A good example being that sometimes I would add a new element, only for the options panel on the right hand side to unexplainably disappear. Usually whenever such a problem presented itself, I would save the page, exit the page, and then reload it – which would make the problem go away.

Of course, the biggest advantage of Profit Builder is the fact that it’s a one time fee. No monthly or yearly fees, pay for it once, use it forever.

Is Profit Builder worth it?

100% yes. Like I’ve already said, if you plan on creating any marketing page now or in the future, then this is a worthy investment.

I’d like to think that I’ve enabled you to make an informed purchasing decision after seeing this Profit Builder Review. For those of you who have gone through the in depth Profit Builder Review and gone ahead and purchased using one of the links on this page, may I take this opportunity to say ‘Thank You’.

Please drop me your thoughts on this Profit Builder Review in the comments section below.

Maybe you have purchased Profit Builder? What’s your thoughts on it? Is Profit Builder worth the money? What are you going to use Profit Builder for?

Whatever you think, I’m keen to hear your thoughts and comments!

Hey Richard,

So I didn’t watch all of the videos because as you know I did purchase Optimize Press and for now it’s all I need. But their plugin will do a lot of what you shared and you stating that it’s so similar in comparison leads me to believe that this is probably something I don’t need right! At least not right now and with what I’m currently doing.

Down the road if and when I expand then I can always consider something else but by that time there will be so many other products out on the market.

What I have to say about you and your reviews is you really take the time to dive in and show us how to not only set it up but all the working components of it. I so appreciate when you helped me with my questions after having gotten stuck with setting up my site using Optimize Press. So I can never thank you enough for being there for me and helping me.

You are the type of person I know I can count on so when I need to purchase something down the road I’ll get it from you. Way to go Richard!

Thanks for this awesome review and be sure to enjoy your weekend.

Of course Adrienne, as you already have OptimizePress you won’t need this.

As you know, I have more than one site so these tools really help me build out a site – plus I got in early so I got the Developers version at a very good price.

Thanks for your kind words on the review. Like I say, these reviews are to help people make an informed purchasing decision. Instead of the product getting rammed down your throat like every other marketer does.

Anyway, thanks for the comments, have a great week ahead.

Hi Richard,

Wow, I had never heard of this before, so thanks for bringing it to my attention. I watched your first video – awesome to let us know what’s involved. Loved your non-hypey informative style. I appreciate you letting us know you didn’t get the OTO, many bloggers push and don’t mention this personal info, which is not really the best, in my opinion.

I’m set with LeadPages right now, but will consider this for the future. Have you heard of ClickFunnels? Russell Brunson is promoting this also, so there’s a lot of activity on this type of software in the industry lately. Much needed tools, I believe. Makes like a lot easier.

I even have a page for 404 errors on my blog. Gotta love it.

Thanks and will be sharing with my friends.

Have a good evening.

    Hi Carol.

Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been on vacation!

Yes, they are much needed tools that make life a lot easier. Thanks for your kind words on the review, I intentionally don’t use hype because I just want one thing; to help people make an informed purchasing decision.

Thanks for your comments as ever Carol, have a great end to the week!

wp profit builder is very useful and everyone should purchase it !! I admire your article as it is full of information.

Rene Ejsing - September 25, 2014

thanks for an excellent review of the plugin – great job!

I have worked with OP2 and it is definitely good, but you often mentions through videos this is a bit faster and better experience in in the daily use – think you are right there, even without I even tried this one.

I have a few questions

1. Have PB possibility of overlay as in the OP2: Button (see more) -> optin form
2. Can you set a video to play on a landing page that will be “interrupted” by an overlay opt-in form that must be completed to see more eg. get to the sales page with the whole video
3. it is possible to customize the opt-in form with your name and email text and send button on them – (I need it in languages other than English)

hope it’s understandable English;)

looking forward to your reply, and then using your aff link

    Richard Martin - October 2, 2014

    Hi Rene,

Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been on vacation!

    As for your questions:

    1. Currently there is nothing like the overlay button in PB.
    2. No.
    3. Yes, you can do it through different ways, such as uploading your own button etc.

Hope this helps Rene. Best bet is to get it, and use it – if it’s not for you then use the refund policy.

    Have a great week.

It was way too cheap not to purchase. Well worth it too in comparison to Optimize Press 2 and a few others. Once you understand the UI this can speed up your page design time tremendously. I have Optimize Press 1.0, 1 minute sites, Thrive Content Builder, and have tried most of the others out there. I really like Shane’s Thrive Content Builder but over time WP Profit Builder may be my new favorite.

It’s still new so I give a lot of grace to bugs, features, etc. Here are few improvements that could really take this over the top.

1) Add an undo button to the editor (absolutely critical for bone heads like me)
2) Allow us to go from the Live edit back to the page/post with a click (a save prompt would probably be needed)
3) Add a forum for collaboration
4) Add pre-made templates (for lazy people like me) with standard verbiage for the following: Disclaimer, Terms & Conditions, Privacy, Affiliate Policy, and a Contact Us page with Google Map pre-integrated (Thrive Themes has this built in).
5. Long term – Simple one click funnel build-out for different types of funnels (similar to ClickFunnels but hopefully cheaper)

    Richard Martin - October 2, 2014

    Wow, thanks Lamont.

Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been on vacation!

I agree with all 5 of your improvements, these would be great additions to an already terrific plugin.

And of course, the pricepoint means that it is way too cheap NOT to go ahead and purchase!

Akane - November 15, 2014

Today I am researching how to get an opt-in form for my e book onto my Profit Builder site, if you have any leads on tutorials, or are planning on writing anything, can you let me know?

The PB tutorials are annoying to me.. very redundant, but none offer resources to fill in all the gaps that are overlooked.. like a side bar menu that lists blog topics ( I am a sports medicine acupuncturist and people want to see blogs about their specific condition) email opt in form, or customizing a PB template (Removing elements to clean up the clutter)

I have found that I do need to go back into WordPress a lot, which I did not expect. I also need to link my Mail Chimp account and dive into the world of auto responders.. ok, I am willing to do the work, but there IS a learning curve.

And yes.. WHY is there no UNDO button?

About the PB videos.. His voice.. is it Sean? annoys me! I just cannot watch his tutorials for more than a minute. I think he needs to put together some more thought out and detailed tutorials and hire someone to do voice over work for him. He keeps talking about how easy it is but offers very little guidance beyond just plugging in the basics to existing templates, some of which are very harsh, sales-y, outdated looking, cluttered, and hard to look at.. especially after using UserTesting to see examples of excellent design! And I felt like an idiot that I did not find PB to be as EASY and intuitive as he thinks it is, even though I think it is a great tool.

So.. I am going back to Lynda.com, and your site, making some coffee, relaxing, and starting from scratch.

So.. Richard… I like this blog. You to the point and offer detailed step by step information. I refer to this site a lot. I have also started using UserTesting.com and it is great! Heh.. I would give your site a much better review than the Profit Builder site in general. I think I have heard your voice, and it is much easier to listen to. When I start producing videos, I will be mindful of how I use my voice as well, it can make or break your online presence, I think!

Thank you for all of the great info you have here!

    Richard Martin - November 18, 2014

You make some very good points. The main one being a lack of undo button which I completely overlooked in my review.

I agree that the tutorials are not great – there is far too much blowing his own trumpet about how ‘easy’ it is – when he actually isn’t showing you that much!

If you need help with the autoresponder integration, all you need to do in Mailchimp is create a new form, ignoring all the design elements. At the end, it will give you some HTML code. Copy this code, and paste it into the opt in element.

Thanks for your kind words – and have a great week!

LaMont Price - November 17, 2014

Richard et al,

I can’t recommend WP Profit Builder any longer. I haven’t seen a single update since (almost) the initial launch period but continually received promotions of OPP (other people products). Nothing wrong with that (I’m in the IM game too) but when compared with Shane Melaugh’s Thrive Content Builder and Thrive Themes, well there’s really no comparison at all now.

Here’s why…

Shane’s team have pushed out so many updates, improvements, and fixes it’s mind boggling. Their support team is awesome; average response times for my questions are probably somewhere less than hour. Most times in less than 30 minutes. The support forum is also collaborative so other product uses can chime in for assistance and tricks they’ve learned.

Shane also distributes video training related to these two products about once or twice per week, sometimes more. Even if you’re advanced marketer you’ll receive a few gold nuggets from the training. As for OPP I don’t recall seeing any thus far but if I did, it doesn’t matter, the OPP could be garbage but I’d still purchase from Shane because of the unbelievable value they’ve delivered so far (big lesson here)

With the most recent updates I’ll probably cancel LeadPages because TT + TCB performs 85% of the primary functions I currently utilize, including LeadBoxes. I could also get rid of the pop-up subscription I use but it’s cheap so I’ll keep it, for now.

Thrive Themes and Thrive Content Builder has been the best purchase I’ve made in 2014. Supposedly in the next 90 days or so there’s going to a Big addition to TT and/or TCB.

I have no ideal how they’ll keep the pace of the roll-outs, support, etc. but it appears
for now they have solid Agile process in place that allows them to keep chugging along.

The only downside of TT or TCB would be if you missed the early pricing structure. WPP Builder had so much potential but it appears this was just another product and not a flagship product like TT and TCB.

    Richard Martin - November 18, 2014

    Hi Lamont.

    Thanks for your input.

I respect your opinion and view, but I am actually enjoying Profit Builder 100% at the minute. I’m enjoying it more than OptimizePress, but I still use both for sales pages and opt in pages.

I agree wholeheartedly with the training issue. For much of it, I was left to figure things out for myself. The tuts could be so much better. Another commenter just said the same thing – far too much emphasis on how easy it is instead of actually showing you how to do things.

And if I hear Sean say ‘Simple!’ or ‘Easy!’ one more time on the tuts, I think I would scream!

I just checked out Thrive, and indeed it looks very good. I had heard of it, but never looked into it. Maybe in the future I will look at it, but right at the minute I’m happy with both OP and PB for all my marketing needs, and that’s why I recommend them on my blog.

    Have a great week LaMont!

Hi Richard, I purchased this a few weeks after your watching your reviews (which were great BTW ..got me over the line) However, I’ve only recently attempted to install them. PB was fine, no problem, but got the following message from “Themes” plugin. I deleted it and downloaded a second time to no avail. Could you advise please?

Installing Plugin from uploaded file: PBTheme-zac777-Digitally-Signed.zip

Unpacking the package…

Installing the plugin…

The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.

    Richard Martin - December 17, 2014

    Hi Russell.

You are trying to open up the main folder that’s why you are experiencing issues.

Double click the file you get from PB, and you will see more files. There should be one named ‘plugin’ (or similar) so this is the one you need to upload on your dashboard.

You may actually have to zip the specific folder back up again as well.

Also make sure you are uploading the correct item to the correct location i.e the plugin to the plugin, the theme to the theme upload.

Hope that works, all the best.

Amazing review you gotten here. By the way, regarding the OverLay question that “Rene Ejsing” asked.

I found the OverLay option in the live editor option.

But even thought I add into my page, the button still dont work.

Any success on your side?

I am about to redevelop a site with a new theme and one big priority now is speed. Would you know how the profitbuilder theme rates for page load speed, or how we can find out? (I know how to check the speed of an existing website, but wonder whether the speed of themes can be checked, before they are used.)

    Richard Martin - April 4, 2015

    Hi Glenda.

I just checked a site of mine I have running Profit Builder, and it came back with a score of 62/100. However, the main problem was I hadn’t optimized my images, and that is what Google told me to do in the speed test.

If I was you, I would lean more towards Optimizepress if you have extra money, it is far more superior (just check out my review on this site).

      Hi Richard

I was looking at a comment section on http://www.smarticomedetective.com where Abraham had a comment “Just picked up PB and have yet to figure out how to get the optin form to work. I copy and pasted the html code from Mailchimp, but the email is not going to the list. Any ideas why that would be?”.

You directed him to one of Sean’s videos and said if he was still struggling, to drop you an email.

I’m still struggling with the same issue with WP Profit Builder. Sean’s videos are sometimes hard to follow. I added in Mailchimps code in the Form Code section of the opt in block and then tried to open the Email Field dropdown, but it didn’t open at all. I have the free MailChimp pluging installed but can’t seem to integrate it into WP Profit Builder.

      Any thoughts>

Hey Richard,

I’ve stumbled across your site once in the past, but yesterday while looking for reviews to compare PB, TCB/TL & IB 2, I came across your reviews here and on the WF.

And as your reviews are of very high quality I decided to purchase through your links.

Keep up the great work.

Todd - December 16, 2015

Hey Richard,

So I just checked out all of your review videos, AWESOME JOB by the way, but I do have a few questions before I make my purchase.

This is a review that was done last year a few weeks after the product launch date. Now there was a few bugs with the plugin in the beginning, understandable, I was just wondering if they had fixed those bugs yet?

I also have a concern with it being a year later about the price not changing. Granted I love the price and is one of the reasons why I am so interested in the plugin, but they stated that it was a pre-launch price and the product has been out for over a year now and the price is still the same. So I was wondering if the company is still active and updating the plugin?

Also another concern of mine is the customer support. The customer support sounds poor to say the least. It seems like their support runs through a different company that you place a ticket with and they may or may not respond to you. I was wondering what your experience has been with their support?

And finally, the developer license. I was wondering if you have used it personally with your clients and how they liked the client side of the product. I assume it is just the product itself that you give to your clients (not the developer rights of course) but I wondering if they had all the same features as far as use of product?

Thanks Richard for the review. I will make sure to purchase from your link when I have made my decision! Looks like a great product and I am on a tight budget and wanted optimizepress for so long. This seems like a great alternative for the price. Thanks again!
